This article examines the main factors that contribute to the understanding and acceptance of innovative values.

Keywords: innovative values, traditional values, understanding innovative values, accepting innovative values.

Innovative values represent a set of principles and beliefs that prioritize and promote creativity, originality, and the search for new ideas and solutions. These values recognize the importance of innovation in various aspects of human endeavor, including technology, science, business, and social progress.

Innovative values are important not only for guiding actions and decisions but also for creating a culture that embraces and supports innovation. For example, some organizations develop and promote specific innovative values as part of their corporate culture to encourage employees to think creatively, take risks, and continuously improve. These values are likely to affect an institution’s ability to adapt to change, remain competitive, and progress in various areas [1; 2].

Innovative values are a concept that expresses the guidelines and beliefs of people and society regarding the concept of innovation. These values help to shape citizens’ attitudes and priorities related to innovation and implementation. Although innovative values want to be subject to constant change, they adhere to several basic principles: creativity: encouraging and evaluating the ability to think creatively, find new ideas, and find new solutions to problems; risk-taking: willingness to take calculated risks in pursuit of innovation, recognizing that not all innovation efforts will succeed and that failure can be a valuable experience; continuous improvement: the belief that innovation is not a one-time event but a process of continuous improvement through the pursuit of continuous improvement; adaptability: recognizing that change is a constant phenomenon and adapting to new technologies, markets, and customer needs; customer orientation: prioritizing the needs and preferences of customers when developing innovative products, services, and solutions; collaboration: the value of approaching innovation through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, understanding that different perspectives and experiences can lead to breakthroughs; ethical responsibility: supporting responsible innovation by considering the potential social, environmental, and ethical implications of new technologies and practices; long-term approach: taking a long-term perspective of innovation, focusing on stable and long-term solutions, not short-term success; openness to feedback: using internal and external feedback to improve and improve innovations; allocation of resources: allocation of financial, human, and temporal resources to support innovative initiatives and their strategic importance; exchange of knowledge: promoting the exchange of knowledge and information within the community, raising the culture of learning and growth; inclusiveness: recognizing that innovation can come from diverse sources and inclusiveness in promoting innovation across diverse demographics and social backgrounds; measuring the impact on society: focusing on measuring and evaluating the impact of innovation in terms of financial success, social benefit, and other relevant indicators.

Understanding and accepting innovative values involves a combination of personal beliefs, organizational culture, and social influences. Therefore, we can name 10 main factors that contribute to citizens’ understanding and acceptance of innovative values (Table 1).

Table 1

The main factors contributing to the understanding and acceptance of innovative values

Main factors

Basic description

The importance of education and awareness

Introducing citizens to educational systems and practices plays an important role in shaping their understanding of innovation and its values.

A correct workplace culture

Workplaces play a crucial role by influencing the way their employees adopt and apply innovative values.

Developing true leadership

Leaders in organizations can set the tone for innovative values.

Provide mentorship and role models

Mentors who value innovation and role models are more likely to adopt innovative values.

Social networks and peer influence

Relationships with friends, colleagues, and peers who value innovation can influence one’s beliefs and actions.

Influence of mass media and information

The mass media and information sources that citizens consume shape their understanding of innovation.

Peculiarities of personal experience

Successes and failures in personal and professional life influence citizens’ understanding of innovative values.

Use of incentives and rewards

Encouraging and rewarding innovative efforts within the organization and in society encourages citizens to adopt and promote innovative values.

Features of cultural and social norms

Cultural norms and societal expectations vary by region and community.

Influence of environmental context

Environmental factors such as access to resources, economic climate, and market demands influence the innovative value priorities of individuals and organizations.

According to the above 10 factors, it can be understood that the understanding and acceptance of innovative values is a dynamic process. This process requires internal motivation, external influence, and a supportive environment. Citizens actively seeking learning and growth opportunities, connecting with supportive networks, and being open to new ideas and experiences contribute to a deeper understanding of innovative values. Developing a culture that encourages innovation and aligns with these values is key to sustaining innovation efforts.

Depending on the overall context and the specific values considered, there will obviously be connections and conflicts between innovative values and traditional values. For example, some societies and cultures attach great importance to traditional values and require respect for heritage, customs, and established norms. Innovation, on the other hand, may seek to challenge these traditions and break away from them. Balancing respect for tradition and striving for innovation is a difficult task. Acceptance of innovations and their compatibility with traditional values vary according to cultural characteristics. Some cultures see innovation as a way to preserve and improve traditional practices, while others see it as a threat to cultural distinctiveness. Ethical and moral values are the basis of traditional values and play a key role in innovation. Ethical dilemmas arise when innovative solutions challenge established moral principles. For example, such concerns arise when thinking about data privacy, the use of new technologies, and the impact on vulnerable communities. Generational differences also play a role. Often, the younger generation tends towards innovative values and seeks to challenge and change the status quo, while the older generation values tradition and stability more. The threat of the generation gap leads to conflicts between generations and differences in values.

Traditional economic values prioritize stability and risk aversion, while innovative values prioritize risk-taking and growth. Achieving a balance between these economic values is essential for sustainable development. Innovative values can challenge traditional power structures and political systems. The positions of social change and political reform movements conflict with authoritative authority and traditional values. While traditional values emphasize the preservation of culture, innovative values focus on adapting to a changing environment. Finding a balance between preserving cultural heritage and adapting to modern requirements is also a difficult problem. In some cultures, community and family values are traditional, and innovation is seen as a threat. However, it should not be forgotten that innovative solutions improve the quality of life of communities and families. While traditional education emphasizes memorization and adherence to established knowledge, innovative education values critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. We think that the relevance of combining these different educational values is high.

As can be seen, the relationship between innovative and traditional values is characterized by complexity and dynamicity. In some cases, innovation can adapt traditional values to modern requirements, leading to harmonious living. Finding a balance between these values involves open dialogue, compromise, and awareness of the specific cultural, social, and ethical contexts in which to operate. In order to create successful stability and dynamic balance in society, it is necessary to use the positive aspects of innovative and traditional values.

According to the above comments, the understanding of innovative values is not the same for all citizens. We would like to say that citizens’ perception of this phenomenon changes over time under the influence of new ideas and experiences. Education and awareness help develop a culture that values and understands innovation. We believe that innovative values are very important in a world characterized by rapid technological progress, global interconnection, and complex challenges. Acceptance of these values develops a culture of continuous improvement, stability, and the ability to effectively focus on the future.
